Orphanage center/school.

From March 2020 lockdown  due to Covid 19, stay at home was declared. All schools were closed till today kids are home. This has affected the education sector too much and our many other activities and project work.

Due to social distancing rules to fight covid19 and other measures the Centre was closed coz we had no capacity to keep children together all these months of lock down.

Kids were to be kept indoor. All staff team was to be indoor no one allowed to move out. Our staffs have their own families so no one would accept to be grounded at the center all this time.

Feeding and getting supplies to kids was a taboo coz stores were closed, public transport burned, so it was had to keep 250 kids with all the demands, requirements, rules, needed to fight covid 19.

In April 2020 we had to locate 14 homes and we divided our children into those min homes. Each home keeps 20,15,11 children in different locations depending on size of house.

Our school facilities couldn’t help especially in social distance, dancing the school to avoid outsiders to come in bring virus to kids, No staff/volunteers was ready to stay at school all these months coz they were not permitted to move out. Lots of rules and covid measures that we couldn’t meet.

So up to now kids are in different homes with a care taker. We supply food and supplies as provision permits us. Much water is needed as washing of hands is like every time, hand washing soap and sanitizers, face masks. This is making our weekly expenditure high.

We have reconnected 185 children to their relatives as a way of making our work easy. We may call them back to the center when lock down is lifted and schools are permitted to open. Currently we have 147 kids officially in our custody kept in 10 different center’s (homes) and in different villages and towns.

GREAT ACHIEVEMENT.
IN This time of lock down, we achieved buying a land which is going to be a farmland for our projects. On this land we will have cash crops and food crops. Cash crops will help us get money to buy supplies. Then food crops will help us go thru the year with food for our children, widows, elderly and our staff. We are planning to have two harvest seasons per year. We will have Maize, beans, cabbage, sweet potatoes, cassava, onions, tomatoes. We are planning rearing chicken, goats and pigs.

Some of the orphans will be learning skills of farming and rearing animals.

Our needs.
Hiring of a tractor to clear the land.

Buying of seeds and other agricultural tools and chemicals

Constructing of a small two room old house to use a a storage and accommodation for our on-site staffs

Demarcating of our land with licensed Land surveyors and also put stone marking boundaries.

Funds to pay first time cultivators and sowing of seeds and crops in right way.

The farm will provide food to children, provide money to buy supplies, it will give jobs to community widows.

Thank you Mr David and Alice Kidder for making this happen. It’s a lasting legacy that will feed the hungry children for years and years.
